6 tips to protect your eyes from presbyopia

In our previous blog post, we talked about what presbyopia or eyestrain is. As mentioned, it is a condition we cannot avoid because it appears with the age, but we can follow some guidelines to prevent or delay its onset.

Here you have 6 tips we have prepared for you:

1 – Use adequate light

If we use electronic devices, it is convenient to have a lighted area in the room because if you are in darkness, the light of the device is very intense and it can produce discomfort and pain in the eyes.

2 – Eye yoga

It is also very convenient to rest your eye sight every hour from the task you are performing. You can practice many different exercises called eye yoga such as moving your eyes from one side to the other, up and down, diagonally, looking at the distance and closing your eyes for them to rest.

3 – Make vision tests regularly

We recommend you to visit your eye professional at least once a year for you to know that everything is fine and, in case there is something wrong, they can solve it before the first discomforts appear.

4 – Reading distance

The recommended reading distance is 40 cm approximately, and with electronic devices it is from 70 to 100 cm.

5 – Eye drops

If you feel eye strain or your eyes tend to dry, you can use eye drops or artificial tears to keep them hydrated and moist.

6 – Vitamins and minerals

In order to keep the sight healthy and strong, it is highly recommended to take vitamins A and D because they help to improve your vision, and they reduce the retina inflammation. On the other hand, there are also some minerals such as selenium, magnesium, calcium or zinc which can help to delay problems associated with sight.
